** Ira Hays, LCSW is a therapist, educator, and consultant  specializing in treatment of anxiety disorders, OCD, school phobia, and related challenges through evidence-based approaches such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).  He is the founder of  Hays Health & Wellness , where he works with individuals and families to build resilience, overcome avoidance, and thrive in both academic and personal settings.

 

What is SEPAG  

The Fairfield Board of Education Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG) exists to fulfill the requirements if the New Jersey Administrative Code 6A:14-1.2(h):

Each Board of Education shall ensure that a special education parent advisory group is in place in the district to provide input to the district on issues concerning students with disabilities.

SEPAG’s Mission

United with the District, in their commitment to excellence for all of our children, we as the Fairfield Special Education Advisory Council will partner with the entire learning community to cultivate nurturing, respectful, and inclusive learning environments for all special education students.

Who is on SEPAG

This advisory group consists of:

  • Executive Committee of Parent Volunteers
  • Director of Special Services
  • Board of Education- Special Education Committee

Function

SEPAG will work collaboratively with all special education parents and district staff in an advisory capacity to the Fairfield Board of Education to:

  • Establish, review and maintain by-laws;
  • Foster increased communication of services and information for families of children with special education needs;
  • Facilitate and foster parent involvement in parent education resources;
  • Foster and promote inclusionary special education settings for all student; and
  • Provide advisory information to the Fairfield Board of Education of issues pertaining to special education services in the district.

Goal

  1. Raise awareness in the special education community of resources available for special education students. 
  2. Address issues/concerns and understand District initiatives related to special education. 
  3. Facilitate activities and events for all Fairfield students to raise awareness, acceptance, and understanding of our differences as well as our similarities.
