……..From the desk of the Superintendent

Welcome to Fairfield Public Schools, a place dedicated to each of our children, devoted to our whole community, defined by our ideals, and providing the finest elementary education.  We are proud to serve and support students from PreK- Grade 6. Our commitments include:

  • Preparing students for success.
  • Educating the whole child.
  • Maintaining strong, supportive, mutually beneficial relationships with schools and other educational partners.
  • Providing quality service and value.

We take seriously the opportunity and responsibility we have to help serve the most valuable resource in our nation - our youth. It is the children of our district who inspire the quality of work and service we strive to deliver.

New Jersey, like 45 other states, has adopted Common Core Standards.  Common Core Standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers.  The Common Core Standards initiative is, by definition, a state-led effort that establishes a single set of clear educational standards for kindergarten through 12th grade in English language arts and mathematics that states voluntarily adopt.  The standards are designed to ensure that students graduating from high school are prepared to enter credit bearing courses in two or four year college programs or enter the workforce.  The standards are clear and concise to ensure that parents, teachers, and students have a clear understanding of the expectations in reading writing, speaking and listening, language and mathematics in school.  As we continue planning for the implementation of Common Core Standards over the next two years, we will continue to focus on literacy, working to ensure that all students exit our system proficient in reading, writing, and math.  Our efforts to improve student performance will be continued so that we can meet our required academic growth targets in all academic subject areas.  We will be using a variety of assessment measures to determine student progress.

As you browse our website, we hope you find it to be a useful resource for information whether you are a prospective family, parent, student or community stakeholder.  Working in partnerships, we can create an educational experience that allows for maximum student learning as well as safe and positive social environment for students.   A successful home/school partnership is the foundation of our District’s core values and goals.  Together we embrace and celebrate the children in our community.  We have high expectations for learning for all students; we value the use of technology as a tool to improve and support classroom instruction; we believe that all students will have equal access to strong core academic programs, and we believe that all students can and want to learn.

We look forward to the future with enthusiasm and excitement. We encourage you to join us on our mission to advance the education and skills of all students through active participation, as we strive to be the absolute best school district we are capable of becoming.

Thank you for your interest and support of Fairfield Public Schools.
