Superintendent's Message

Welcome to the Fairfield Public Schools. The Fairfield School District is comprised of two schools: Adlai E. Stevenson School, which serves grades Pre K to Grade 3 and the Winston S. Churchill School, which serves Grades 4, 5 and 6. Our children are our greatest resource and we are committed to providing them with a quality education. The focus of our educational mission is to give each child the tools to work independently and develop skills that allow them to develop to their full potential. The students, teachers and parents of Fairfield are all members of our educational community and are stakeholders in the important charge of educating our children.

The staff of the Fairfield School District places an emphasis on academic excellence, along with professional growth and development. They focus on encouraging true learning by linking it to real life experiences. Language arts and mathematics are integrated into all facets of the curriculum so that children are exposed to a challenging and enriching program.

As we reflect on the past school year, we realize that one of our primary goals, assessing the technology needs of our district, gave us the opportunity to make several improvements in that area. Both schools now have new computer labs and there is increased technology in classrooms, through the use of SmartBoards and laptop computer carts. We have also improved articulation within the cluster of schools that sends students to West Essex High School. The leadership teams will continue to meet regularly and our teachers will also be included in professional development opportunities with those districts.

The Fairfield Board of Education, administration and staff are committed to creating an educational environment that holds high standards for our children and encourages excellence. Please feel free to contact me for more information regarding our wonderful staff and students.
