Fairfield Board of Education

Dear Fairfield Community,
My name is Ms. Susan Ciccotelli, and I have the distinct pleasure to be the newly appointed Superintendent of the Fairfield Public Schools. I am looking forward to getting to know the families and working together to maintain the effective instructional practices and nurturing community that Dr. Mary Kildow and staff have proudly established.
I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from West Chester University in Pennsylvania. I earned my master’s degree in School Business Administration from Rutgers University. I taught grades 3-6 as a homeroom teacher and taught basic skills to students in grades two and three. After teaching for thirteen years, I moved onto administration where I served as an assistant principal for three years at Riverview Elementary School in Denville. Then, I spent the past five years as a building principal at Woodmont Elementary School in Montville.
As an educational leader, I strive to create positive parent and teacher relations as well as fostering a child-centered community. With the community’s support, combined with the best professional efforts and practices, academic growth and success can be ensured. Providing every student with a challenging and enriching curriculum appropriate to his/her academic level is a goal I will continue to see is met. I believe in order to give each child the best opportunity and experience for success, we all need to put children first in all that we do. A positive school-community will foster a setting to do what is needed for educating all students. It is my personal commitment to do my best to oversee that each child is stimulated, challenged, and provided with a safe and cultivating experience.
As your Superintendent, you can expect that I will reach out to you for support, suggestions, ideas, and involvement. As we work together and get to know each other this school year, I welcome your input. I have an open-door policy and am always willing to listen to thoughts that will assist in preparing children to be successful. Through teamwork, open communication, and a dedication to continuous improvement, we create a place in which your children can flourish.
I look forward to working together as partners in learning and to a terrific school year.
Ms. Susan Ciccotelli
